Phase Identification
Metallographers can often predict which phases are likely to be present in a given alloy from a knowledge of its sample chemical composition, processing history, previously published information on its characteristics, or by reference to phase diagrams. Guided by such information, at Jyothi Spectro, metallographers examines the microstructure to identify the phases present.
Weld Evaluation
Metallographic weld evaluation can help determine porosity or lack of fusion. On a micro scale, the examination of weld growth patterns, phase balance assessments or checking for non-metallic precipitates are used to determine the cause of weakness.
